HAJJI

Shortfilm; Length: 08:50,

Exhibition View: Eigen+Art LAB Berlin, 2020

Music: Live Performance by Medusa (Recorded in Mazkeka, Jerusalem, Nov 7, 2019 00:52:24)

The appropriation of the title Hajji / Хаджи / الحجّي by Ottoman Christians highlights the complex intertwining of cultural practices and identities within Europe. It demonstrates how even religious practices like pilgrimage can transcend their original context, revealing unexpected parallels between Christian, Jewish, and Muslim traditions.

ДОРА

Installation: Slide Projectors, Slides, Audio Records, Speakers, Pedestals
Collaboration with Jamie Kühn (Arch.)

Exhibition view: Folkwang Museum, Essen, 2017

Photographs – two-dimensional representations of reality. How can one create comprehensive impressions and convey a real atmosphere from already captured images? By projecting slides onto neutral interior architectural elements, breaking them in space, and complementing with original sound, a virtual home is formed.

MY SUNSHINE

Video Installation;

Audio source: Sonified data of the sun by the Standford Experimental Physics Lab,

ESA and NASA’s Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO);

Exhibition View: Minshar School of Art, Tel Aviv 2019

Inspired by Erich Fromm's "To Have or to Be?" Can we truly conquer nature? Can I own the sun? The illusion of possession and humanity's attempt to cultivate nature are depicted in a gesture where a hand holds a mirror. The audio is deep loud humming of sonified solar radiation data. Sonification itself is an act of incorporation.

WE INVENTED THE BAUHAUS

C-Prints and Text Printed on Matte Paper, 50 x 65 cm; 2019

"What could our everyday life look like in 2035?"

Developed at the Laboratory – Cross-Disciplinary Project of the Architectural Association (AA) London and State Academy of Art and Design, Stuttgart

Inspired by the ongoing Stuttgart 21 project and its impact on the urban landscape, WE INVENTED THE BAUHAUS revisits the principles of the iconic German design movement. Through a series of photographs and accompanying texts, the project envisions a speculative future where the Bauhaus ideals of functionality, simplicity, and social responsibility are reinterpreted for the 21st century.

WE INVENTED THE BAUHAUS questions the pursuit of supposed perfection in design and technology, highlighting the tension between utopian visions and the messy realities of implementation. The images and texts offer glimpses into a world grappling with global political, cultural, and economic change, where the promise of progress clashes with the complex challenges of urban development, displacement, and environmental impact.

THE GREAT INFINITY POOL

Exhibition series 2016-2017

View: Catalogue Vol.3, Poster, Vernissage 1 and 2, Bilingual Text,

Installations: Museum Folkwang Essen (2017) and Academy of Art and Deisgn Stuttgart (2016)

THE GREAT INFINITY POOL was an interdisciplinary exhibition series that unfolded across multiple locations, including the Museum Folkwang in Essen, the Baumwoll-Spinnerei in Leipzig, and the Art Academy in Stuttgart. The catalogues document key highlights.

For the Academy, we utilized VR technology to connect audiences with a simultaneous show in Leipzig. Through simple VR goggles, visitors were transported on a virtual journey, experiencing the Leipzig exhibition in a fully immersive 360° environment. This innovative approach blurred the lines between physical and virtual space, offering a unique perspective on the evolving landscape of art and its presentation. My bilingual German-English texts introduced the concept of the exhibition to the visitors through video installations and on the website. Further showcases of the series were held at the Museum Folkwang in Essen

ESCAPES

ESCAPES (2010, pre-AI era) is a digitally manipulated portrait series inspired by pulp-fiction book covers, exploring the boundaries between reality and digital manipulation. The series distorts the artist's connection to familiar places and friends from his hometown coast, creating a surreal and dreamlike atmosphere reminiscent of those vintage covers. This early work, predating the widespread use of AI, showcases the creative potential of human-computer collaboration, where the software partially dictates the outcome.
